“We are connected”

Written by Nicolás Montalbán on . Posted in Pastoral Care

"We are starting a new course year. A unique and unrepeatable opportunity to grow, advance, excel oneself, learn new realities, discover new friendships. WE ARE A NETWORK and not loose threads. Together we can create, transform and evolve into a new society".

This is the initial admonition of the mass that we celebrated yesterday in the school to celebrate the beginning of this school year.

Enclosed please find a document with the outline of the Eucharist and two photos with some students in the yard after the event.

We also present you, the video with the lyrics of the song "The signal", by Juanes, that we have sung in the mass.

Fachada principal 4

Do you know that your school has more than 30 species of plants among trees, bushes and grass?

For you to know and identify them we have placed some cards including some information on their comon names, scientific names and whre they come.

For th etime being we have placed the cards on the trees but as the school year continues, new cards will be appearing with the description of the remainder of plants from the centre.

We encourage the whole educational  community to see the cards and in that way learn a little bit moreon the plants and their vital experience for the planet.

contenedor amarilloIf we think a little bit and we are conscious of the times we throw something to the rubbish inour daily activities we can realize that we generate a great deal of residues. Many of them cab be recycled and can be used again helping to keep the resources of the planet and reduce contamination.

For this reason, the centre has prepared some yellow collection containers for bottles and tins in the corridors and in the yard. Besides, they are incicated with posters for easy location.

With the help of the educational community we shall achieve that this centre could be more sutainable and respectful with the environment.

Getting to Know us

Written by Carmelitas Cartagena on . Posted in The Vedruna´s English Corner

etwinningWith this suggestive title our students from 1st., 2nd. And 3rd. CSE started an Etwining European Project (within Comenius, the EU programme for school education) on 8th. October 2012. The main aim of the project has been to enhance communication among students from different countries on topics they were interested in, such as introducing me, personality, likes and dislikes, our place, hobbies, pets,  sic, fashion, culture, maths, physics, sports and so on. From the beginning we had the clear intention of creating an e-magazine on mentioned topics, which reflected the enourmous work our student have done. We believed this could be an imaginative and interesting implementation of the subject “English language”.

The founders were St. Joachima de Vedruna of Cartagena and Szkoła Podstawowa w Iwięcinie im. Aleksandra Doby , Poland.  Later, some other partners joined us as follows:

  • 2nd. Junior High School of Kalymnos, Dodecanese, Greece.
  • Brighouse High School, United Kingdom
  • Istituto Comprensivo Statale “S. Francesco/Petrarca” di San Severo –Secondaria di I Grado, Italiy
  • Manisa Do?a Koleji, Turkey
  • and Szkola Podstawowa Nr 18, of Poland.

Students organized themselves in groups nominating a group leader who was resposible for compiling all group work and prepare in word format with photos. Responsible teachers were uploading the works to the twin space of the project in the case of 1st. and 2nd. CSE, meanwhile group leaders were given administration rights so the y could upload the projects themselves. It is important to say that 3rd. CSE students also participated in another Etwinning project entitled Diving in the Oceans of Knowledge with other European schools.

On 14th. January we started a voting among the different students and teachers of the project to choose the name of our e-magazine, and on  21st. January the name The Student Gazette was decided by the vast majority of electors.

Below you have the link to our e-magazine so you can see and enjoy the our students´ great effort and enthusiasm in their works, together with that of other schools involved.

Congratulations to all participants, and be this project the first step to start promoting all kind of projects and exchange programmes of our beloved school and other European schools!!!
